About The Uncommon Hound
The Uncommon Hound is the culmination of many animal-related projects worked on by founders Leslie and Tony Fournier. They share their home with 4 dogs, 2 cats, and 2 turtles.
Leslie and her family have been involved in animal rescue for over 20 years. They run a small non-profit rescue for homeless coonhounds - www.coonhoundrescue.org. They have also been active in puppy mill rescue. Over the last 10 years Leslie and her family have had 116 different dogs live with them as fosters (not at the same time!). They started The Uncommon Hound so they could continue to make a difference for animals. Inspired by the adoption of over 400 animals to wonderful families, they wanted to concentrate on the good side of rescue... the "happily ever after" part.
.....
All of The Uncommon Hound family animals are rescued. Their job is to test products and make recommendations. Shadow, our logo dog, is an American Blue Gascon Hound. His is a rare (uncommon!) breed based on the original old style bluetick coonhounds.
Tuli, rescued from a shelter in Tennessee, is a redbone coonhound, with perhaps some black-mouth cur in her.
Cory is a cairn terrier and a puppy mill survivor. He was an adult breeder dog rescued from an Ohio dog auction.
Dante, a miniature poodle, is also a mill survivor, and was rescued along with Cory.
The Uncommon Hound is based in Brewer, Maine. We can be reached through our "Contact Us" link above or by calling 800-755-0439. |
